In 2015 Toyota officially introduced the Toyota Safety Sense™ (TSS) driver-assist package and started including it on their vehicles. The Toyota Pre-Collision system tracks objects surrounding a vehicle and gives audible and visual signals to San Diego drivers before it takes corrective action. But how does Toyota Pre-collision system work? Find out here from this guide by Mossy Toyota and then head into the dealership to find the Toyota vehicle right for you!

The Toyota Pre-Collision System Explained

The Toyota Pre-Collision system works as part of the Toyota Safety Sense™ (TSS) safety suite. It uses a front-facing camera and a laser to monitor other vehicles in your path on your daily commute to La Jolla. These are the details of the Pre-Collision system:

  • The Pre-Collision System includes a front-facing camera and an invisible laser to help monitor the distance between your Toyota and the vehicle ahead of it.
  • While monitoring your distance, the Pre-collision system measures your current speed to determine if you are approaching the object or vehicle ahead too quickly.
  • If a collision is likely, the system will immediately alert you with audible and visual warning signals, encouraging you to apply your brakes and slow down.
  • If Chula Vista drivers can’t slow down or fail to heed the system’s warnings, the Toyota Pre-Collision system will take action and apply the brakes automatically or deploy them at full force using the brake assist feature.

The Toyota Pre-Collision system is not to be used as a substitute for attentive driving, but it can help you avoid a collision if you need assistance or are unable to do so yourself.
